Description
The book report is an opportunity to earn some serious extra credit for this class. All the books listed below qualify. If you want to choose another book, have me approve your selection before you start on it. The book reading will include three book reports. They are each an assignment of 80 points each. That's an opportunity for you to earn 240 points of extra credit!
The first two reports will be quite simple and written about the parts of the book you have read up to that point. The third book report will be an oral report where you and I will discuss the book.
Objectives
Students will identify an explain the key plot elements in their chosen piece of American literature.
Books for class reading
The books listed below are already approved for your class reading.
If you want to use another, that's fine, but you need to have Mr. Robbins approve it. Generally speaking a book needs to be set close to the time period we will cover in class, be well written, and be moderate length.
You may use these books in any form you can find. Most of them are available in printed and audio format through links on this page. You may also check them out from the school or public library, or purchase them from an online source such as Amazon. These books are all in the public domain and are not very expensive.
